Trillium BMW Sim Racing - First Meet Monday Jan 4 2021

Thanks very much to all of you who responded to our sim racing survey. We learned that there are quite a few of you that are either recent or new to sim racing. So, on Monday, January 4th, from 7:30 to 9:30 PM, the League’s first event will be an orientation and practice session that will help everyone to get off to a good start. We will hold additional practice nights in January before official races in the Trillium BMW Sim Racing League begin. All League events will be held on Monday evenings.
The car we will use for our first official race series will be a BMW M4.  However, to keep your initial costs down, on January 4th, we’ll be running the Mazda MX-5 Cup car at Lime Rock Park.  This car and track are included in the price of your iRacing subscription.

Getting Started

To participate in the League events, including the January 4th Orientation/Practice, here are the steps you need to follow:

1) You need an iRacing subscription
If you’re not an iRacing subscriber yet, please do that first, here:

The 1-year and 2-year iRacing subscriptions provide the best value, but if you’d rather go short-term for now, you can get started with a monthly or 3-month subscription.

During the iRacing sign-up process, make note of your iRacing Member ID and also dig up your BMW CCA Member number. You will need them for step 2.

2) You will need to register on
Head to MotorsportReg to sign up (free) for the January 4 Orientation/Practice, here:

3) You will need to be running Discord
Most communications for the League including driver meetings and in race chats will be held in Discord, an online app that provides an easy way to talk over voice, video, and text within a community. Register and download the Discord app (free for your computer and/or phone) at

Next, join the Trillium BMW Sim Racing League Discord Server, here:

4) If you are new to iRacing, you need to get oriented
Do your best to get yourself oriented in iRacing in advance and at least try some practice laps on your own. There is a lot of iRacing help/content on YouTube to help you get started, including this one:

How to Get Started with the iRacing user interface

To participate in the League’s orientation session, practices and races, you will need to have:

  • a computer that is close to the ‘mid-range system requirements’ (or better) for iRacing, as described here
  • a racing wheel and pedals installed on your PC and configured
  • a decent Internet connection (iRacing indicates that 256 Kbps will work), but we recommend that you have a healthy Internet connection to maintain reliable connectivity and performance
