BimmerWorld BMWCCA Club Race School

If you're considering advancing to the ranks of BMW Club Racing or CASC Racing, or want to be exposed to new concepts and on-track experiences, then this event is for you. This school is open to all drivers experienced with high performance driving on the track. Instructors and signed-off advanced students of the BMW Club high performance driver education program are welcome, as well as participants with equivalent experience from other recognized organizations. You will need to be a member of either the Trillium BMW Club or any chapter of the BMWCCA to participate.
A race school weekend consists of an intensive program of in-class sessions and on-track exercises. There will be four classroom sessions and four track sessions each day. The classes cover such topics as the rules, race craft, mental preparation, practice and qualifying techniques, surviving the start, etc. On-track sessions consist of a variety of exercises, including two or three-abreast driving, leap-frog passing, practice starts, and simulated qualifying, culminating in a mock race in the last session on Sunday (optional). There will be no instructors in the student cars, though there will be instructors present on the track and in the classroom observing your behaviour and skill and participating in the discussions in the class.
After successfully completing this school you will have satisfied the educational requirement for applying for a BMWCCA Club Race license. This school can also qualify you to apply for a CASC-OR regional race license.
Any car suitable for use in a BMW Club driving school may be used, all the way up to fully prepared race cars. Participants do not need race-prepared cars, nor do cars need to be BMW's. Note that this year the helmet requirements have been updated (same as for the Advanced Driving School): Helmets must be either Snell SA2015 or Snell SA2020.
The estimated cost to students for 2023 attending the two-day event is $733.37 ($649 +HST). Students are also invited to participate in an optional Friday Advanced Solo Lapping Day on Friday, April 21. Friday lapping registration is available directly on the race school registration site.
Please note these important pre-requisites
- This school only accepts those who have significant solo student and/or lapping experience. You will not be taught how to drive on a track at this school. We assume you already have these skills. You must have previously attained a level equivalent to a signed-off advanced student in a BMW club high performance driving school program.
- All candidates must submit their driving resume to the race school chief instructor – Shaun McKenzie (shaunmckenzie839@gmail.com).
- As part of sanctioning from BMW CCA, all candidates must be members of BMW CCA. If you are already a member of Trillium, you are already a member of BMW CCA. If you are a member of another BMW chapter in Canada but not a member of BMW CCA, please join the BMW CCA.
- All regular pre-requisites apply as with any other Trillium event. Please ensure you review the information on the chapter web site (https://www.trilliumbmwclub.ca/advanced-driving-schools).
Registration is a multi-step process. Read these instructions carefully.
Students must register for the school via Motorsport Reg. Contact Chief Race School Instructor, Shaun McKenzie regarding your eligibility and he will send you a registration link. Student candidates can contact Shaun at shaunmckenzie839@gmail.com to submit a detailed track driving resume with references. If you need a form to guide you through the detailed resume, one can be found at https://www.trilliumbmwclub.ca/questionnaire. Once Shaun has assessed the candidate and accepted them, their registration will be accepted and their credit card charged. If the candidate is not accepted, then the registration will be declined, with credit card not being charged. There is an optional lapping day on Friday, April 21. It is strongly recommended that you register for this day in order to re-establish your skills from last year. Registration for the Friday is separate and is to be done directly on the Trillium web site https://www.trilliumbmwclub.ca.

Race School Instructors - For April 2023
Experienced racers from BMW Club Racing and other sanctioned race series are invited to help instruct. We need racers to participate in discussions regarding a variety of topics, take part in on-track exercises, and observe and comment on the actions of the students. When on track, you will be using your own car and not be in the student's car. Friday lapping is free for those who commit to instruct Saturday and Sunday. If interested, please contact the registrar (Allan Lewis – allan-lewis@rogers.com) directly. Please do NOT register as a Advanced Driving School instructor. The Race School Students and Instructors have a separate registration process.
